HarbourVest works very closely with its primary partnership managers.  The breadth of our relationships allows us to identify and pursue diverse investment opportunities throughout the world.  As one of the oldest fund-of-funds, we have created lasting relationships with many of the top fund managers in the business today, and we continue to proactively seek out new investment teams.  We invest in all types of fund managers — small, medium, and large buyout partnerships; venture fund managers that specialize in seed and early stage investing; managers that focus in the later stage area; and mezzanine and distressed debt partnerships.  Our goal is to ensure that all of the major industry segments of private equity are represented in the portfolio. 

Long-Standing Relationships
Fund managers who work with HarbourVest view us as a long-term partner.  We choose to invest only with those managers who have strong track records and show the potential for favorable returns.  However, we also focus on building new relationships.  We have an open-door policy for meeting new firms and welcome the opportunity to learn more about new potential partners.  On an annual basis, we typically invest in 40 to 50 managers of the nearly 500 we evaluate.
