The Event Manager will be a member of the Marketing Communications group within HarbourVest’s Investor Relations team. This team manages marketing and communications activities for HarbourVest’s private markets products and solutions. The principle function of the Event Manager is ownership of the planning and execution of a portion of Annual HarbourVest events as well as collaboration on the Firm’s industry conference participation both domestically and internationally.
HarbourVest’s suit of client events and conferences continues to grow including events with existing and potential investors, consultants, general partners, executives of potential company investments, potential co-investment partners, secondary sellers, intermediaries in the secondary market, and employees. The Events Manager must be able to work across the business to maintain consistency within the global events program as it expands. Responsibilities include hands-on involvement from beginning through execution of meetings, conferences, and events. Candidates will have experience with global event programs and experience working with stakeholders at all levels of seniority. He/she should have the ability to work seamlessly with global colleagues in different time zones. This role has broad exposure across the organization and must possess a willingness to try new things. This role requires light international travel, up to 5% of the year.
Required skills include proficiency in software (specifically with cloud-based technology), Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), Cvent, Marketo, and Salesforce. Additional skills should include the ability to multi-task and prioritize, experience with negotiating contracts and managing vendors, strong budgeting skills, and attention to detail.
BS/BA or equivalent
5-10 years' experience in an event management role demonstrating broad-based event and conference management experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Event management experience related to high-profile meetings (both domestic and internationl), events, and conferences in asset management, financial services, or private equity preferred. B2B experience is required. Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation a plus (but not required).Submit Resumé
