Vice President, Research



Job Description

HarbourVest is seeking a Vice President, Research to plan and execute the initial set-up of a research function and related processes at the firm, and then to conduct ongoing product and market research and competitive analyses within the private equity industry. Based on the research conducted, this individual will then be responsible for assessing and making recommendations regarding the firm’s product and service pipeline, development of new products and service offerings, market testing plans for new products and services in development, overall product and service design, and developing and modifying sales content. In addition, the Vice President, Research will be responsible for regularly monitoring, consolidating, organizing, and internally publishing information relating to competitive dynamics, market studies, and industry developments. This individual will work cross-functionally with the product development, client relations, investment, risk, and marketing teams in planning and performing research and communicating findings. The Vice President, Research may also be responsible for or involved in other strategic initiatives with a research component. Additional skills should include leadership, project management, communication, quantitative, data analytics, and relationship management skills.


BS/BA or equivalent, MBA, CFA, or other advanced degree/qualification preferred


10+ years of experience in the investment management or financial services industry with significant experience performing research on or in the private equity industry
