Rapisarda SeniaHarbourVest Partners, a leading private markets investment firm, has today announced the establishment of an office in Toronto and that Senia Rapisarda has joined the firm as a Principal to lead the local presence in Canada.

HarbourVest currently manages $1.5 billion on behalf of several institutional Canadian investors. Senia Rapisarda has been working with HarbourVest for over a year on a consulting basis to explore the Canadian market opportunity and help develop plans for a local presence.

The firm has a long track record of investing in Canada (since 1989), with more than $425 million of indirect investments into over 200 Canadian companies through primary fund investments and secondary investments and investments of US$40 million in Canadian growth equity transactions. The firm plans to increase its focus on Canada and its sourcing of primary fund investments, secondary deals, and direct co-investment opportunities across the market.

About Senia Rapisarda

Senia Rapisarda joined HarbourVest to focus on partnership and direct co-investments in Canada and to expand HarbourVest’s local presence in the market. Senia joined from BDC Venture Capital, where she was responsible for the establishment of a team focused on direct and indirect investments across Canada. Her previous experience includes positions at Nur Energie in London, London Business School, Nomura International, and Salomon Brothers, among other roles. Senia received a JD (summa cum laude) from LUISS University in Rome in 1987 and a Masters in Law and Economics (Fulbright Scholar) from Columbia University in 1989. An Italian citizen who holds permanent resident status in Canada, Senia also speaks fluent Italian, French, and Spanish.
