Kanji Takenaka joined HarbourVest in 2014 to focus on enhancing and building relationships with institutional investors and general partners in Japan.
He joined the Firm from Simplex Real Estate Management, where he was a member of the board of directors. Prior to Simplex, Kanji spent six years at Fortress Investment Group in New York, where his responsibilities included business development for Japan, risk control, and portfolio management for Fortress’ fund-of-funds products and credit investment funds. Prior to Fortress, Kanji held various positions at Norinchukin Bank, including in its Credit and Alternative Investment Division.
Kanji received a BA from Waseda University in 1998 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2005. Kanji speaks fluent Japanese.
