Appointments enable further expansion of presence in private wealth segment
BOSTON – January 15, 2025 – HarbourVest Partners, the global private markets investment specialist, today announced the appointment of Raymond Ahn as a managing director and CMO and Jon Thomas as a managing director and CAO. Ray will be responsible for leading the global brand across regions, client segments and general partners. Jon will be responsible for leading global financial reporting and controllership as well as financial operations functions.
“We are pleased to welcome Ray and Jon to HarbourVest,” said John M. Toomey, Jr., CEO of HarbourVest Partners. “Both of these roles are new for HarbourVest and will enable us to further strengthen and expand our position as a leader in global private markets investments. Building on our record $18.5 billion secondaries close in 2024, we continue to see strong interest for diversified, multi-manager exposure to private markets. We believe these two new roles will enhance HarbourVest’s ability to meet the growing interest, both from our institutional LPs as well as new private wealth investors as we further expand into that growing segment.”
Ray has more than 20 years of experience in asset management marketing and joins HarbourVest from PGIM, the $1.4 trillion global investment management business of Prudential Financial. At PGIM, Ray served as the CMO of PGIM Investments, the global wealth division of PGIM, where he established a global brand in the segment, expanding the marketing team and scaling marketing operations globally. Prior to joining PGIM, Ray held various senior marketing and communications roles at firms including American Funds/Capital Group, Proshares, T. Rowe Price and BlackRock. Ray graduated with a BS in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University.
Prior to joining HarbourVest, Jon was Chief Executive Officer of Laurel AG and Water, a private equity-backed irrigation company in California. Before assuming that role, he served as the company’s chief financial officer—a role he held at two other companies during his career. Prior to that, Jon was a principal at KKR and began his career at PwC. Jon earned his BA in Business Administration from the University of Maine.
