Infrastructure and Real Assets

What is an infrastructure and real asset investment?

Infrastructure and real assets investments are those made in sectors that we see as essential to the functioning of the economy, including transportation, renewable energy, utilities, social assets, and data infrastructure. These critical assets support the functioning of our everyday lives.

Why consider infrastructure and real assets investing?

We believe the infrastructure and real asset class has many attractive features compared to other private market asset classes. They can offer access to growth areas of our economy and can provide, diversification, and downside and inflation protection while still providing attractive absolute returns. While the market may be mature, it is still growing and evolving. It can be accessed via primary investments, secondary investments, and direct co-investments, offering flexibility to meet varied investor needs.

Our approach to infrastructure and real assets investments

Investing in infrastructure and real assets, which can be highly complex in nature, requires extensive expertise and strong deal execution capabilities. Our infrastructure investment team has deep industry experience across all infrastructure sectors and geographies in energy, power, and natural resources – experience that we feel is complemented by the broader capabilities and access of HarbourVest’s global investment platform.

We focus on infrastructure funds through our primary products, separately managed accounts (SMAs), secondaries, liquidity solutions, and co-investments alongside our strong network of GPs. We sit in the middle of the private infrastructure market, where we can provide expertise, execution, and capital to our investment partners, and high quality, often difficult to access, assets to our investors.

We sit in the middle of the private infrastructure market, working directly with GPs, LPs, and companies.
