Diversification via a Separately Managed Account
Many investors have used the flexibility of a separately managed account (SMA) as a convenient portfolio completion tool, allowing them to fill specific gaps in their portfolios and increase diversification. However, SMAs need not be so limited. With the right manager, they can effectively offer a turnkey solution for creating a diversified private markets portfolio.
This paper highlights the opportunity for portfolio enhancement presented by private credit and real assets, both of which are potentially accessible via a diversified SMA. These asset classes could prove highly complementary to a private equity allocation.
