Peter Kooken joined HarbourVest’s Marketing team in 2025, where he leads the development and execution of marketing strategies to engage institutional investors. His focus includes enhancing brand visibility and expanding the firm’s reach across key institutional segments. Peter leads a team responsible for crafting comprehensive marketing plans tailored to audiences such as public and corporate pension funds, endowments, foundations, and financial institutions.
His prior experience includes serving as Managing Director and Global Head of Institutional Marketing at State Street Global Advisors, where he led global strategy for one of the world’s largest asset managers. Before that, he held senior roles at State Street including Vice President, Head of North America Institutional and Retirement Marketing, and Head of Defined Contribution Marketing. He also served as Senior Director of Institutional Marketing at Financial Engines, and earlier in his career held roles at New York Life Retirement Plan Services and Fidelity Investments.
Peter graduated from Boston College with a BS in Management, concentrating in Finance, and later earned an MBA with a focus in Marketing.
