About Bryce

Bryce Klempner joined HarbourVest in 2022 to help direct the firm’s strategy and lead innovation of new investment products and solutions.

Bryce joined from McKinsey & Co., where he served as co-head of the global institutional investor practice, advising pensions, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, family offices, and others. He led McKinsey’s work serving private equity firms on their strategy, organization, operations, and other firm-level topics, while co-leading the firm’s efforts supporting investors on ESG and sustainable investing. He also oversaw McKinsey’s global research on private market asset classes. Earlier in his career he spent time at Goldman Sachs in Japan and PE GPs in India and China.

Bryce received a BA in East Asian Studies from Harvard University and a JD from Harvard Law School. He is proficient in French, Italian, and Japanese. 

Continuation solutions encompass a host of transaction types in which a GP secures interim liquidity and/or additional primary capital for their LPs in a strongly performing asset, or set of assets, that the GP will continue to own and control. Specifically, they include continuation funds, new funds created by GPs for the purpose of acquiring the asset(s) that continue to be managed by the same GP and capitalized by one or several secondary buyers, or equity recapitalizations involving a direct equity or structured equity investment into a portfolio company. These transactions can also include a parallel investment from the GP’s latest fund into that same pool of assets (a “cross-fund trade”).
