About George

George joined HarbourVest Partners (U.K.) Limited in 1990 with a focus on HarbourVest’s investment and client service activities in Europe. In July 2017, George became a Senior Advisor. George has served on numerous advisory committees of European venture capital and buyout funds over the past 25 years. George is a member of Invest Europe’s LP Platform Council, and is its past Chairman (2013/14). George was an inaugural member of the BVCA LP Committee. He was also a Director for five years (2007-2012) of HarbourVest Global Private Equity Limited (HVPE), a listed investment company that invests in and alongside HarbourVest-managed funds.

George’s previous experience includes seven years with Pantheon Ventures managing European private equity funds and companies.

A UK citizen, he was born in Canada and educated in the US. George received a BA in Finance from the University of Iowa in 1982.

Continuation solutions encompass a host of transaction types in which a GP secures interim liquidity and/or additional primary capital for their LPs in a strongly performing asset, or set of assets, that the GP will continue to own and control. Specifically, they include continuation funds, new funds created by GPs for the purpose of acquiring the asset(s) that continue to be managed by the same GP and capitalized by one or several secondary buyers, or equity recapitalizations involving a direct equity or structured equity investment into a portfolio company. These transactions can also include a parallel investment from the GP’s latest fund into that same pool of assets (a “cross-fund trade”).
