Joel Hwang joined HarbourVest in 2008 and focuses on originating, evaluating, and executing growth equity and buyout investments into operating companies. Joel is a member of the Firm’s Direct Investment Committee.
Joel has led many of HarbourVest’s investments in the growth and technology arenas, currently serving as a director of Vehlo, Airspace, and Stax Payments. He also led investments into Armis, Avalara (NYSE:AVLR), Clay Labs, Expel, Finalsite (Acquired by Veritas), Intelex (Acquired by Fortive), Klarna, Monday.com (NASDAQ:MNDY), Moon Active, SalesLoft (Acquired by Vista), and Toast (NASDAQ:TOST). Prior to HarbourVest, Joel spent two years in investment banking at Citigroup’s Global Technology Group.
Joel received a BA (magna cum laude) in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
