About Julia

Julia Jaskólska joined HarbourVest in 2023 to help lead the firm’s strategy and growth initiatives. Julia joined from CalPERS, where she served as an investor on the private equity direct/co-invest team, as well as ESG Lead for PE. In her investing role, she deployed capital into buyout, growth, and VC companies across sectors, with a particular focus on B2B technology and climate. In her ESG role, she co-led a successful effort to create and scale the ESG Data Convergence Initiative, the PE industry’s first integrated approach to standardizing and quantifying ESG reporting.

Before CalPERS, Julia was a tech PE investor at Francisco Partners, a management consultant at Bain & Co., and a founder of a fin-tech company.

Julia earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, an MPhil in Sustainability from the University of Cambridge, and a BS in Materials Engineering from MIT. She is a native speaker of Polish with intermediate fluency in Spanish.

Continuation solutions encompass a host of transaction types in which a GP secures interim liquidity and/or additional primary capital for their LPs in a strongly performing asset, or set of assets, that the GP will continue to own and control. Specifically, they include continuation funds, new funds created by GPs for the purpose of acquiring the asset(s) that continue to be managed by the same GP and capitalized by one or several secondary buyers, or equity recapitalizations involving a direct equity or structured equity investment into a portfolio company. These transactions can also include a parallel investment from the GP’s latest fund into that same pool of assets (a “cross-fund trade”).
