About Simon

Simon Jennings joined HarbourVest in 2017 and focuses on business development and strategy with key intermediary relationships in EMEA and Asia. Simon brings 27 years of experience to this role and has extensive experience in private equity investment, strategy, business building, client relations, and fundraising.

Simon joined the Firm from HSBC where he served as the global head of private equity responsible for creating, structuring, and accessing private equity investment opportunities for private and institutional clients. Prior to that, he held the role of global head of private equity at UBS Wealth Management. His other experience includes leadership positions at UBS AG in both London and Zurich, UBS Capital, Phildrew Ventures, and Hermes Investment Management.

Simon received a BA (with honours) in European Business Administration from the Middlesex Business School, London and a Diplom-Betriebswirt from the Fachochschule Reutlingen in Germany. Simon speaks German.

Continuation solutions encompass a host of transaction types in which a GP secures interim liquidity and/or additional primary capital for their LPs in a strongly performing asset, or set of assets, that the GP will continue to own and control. Specifically, they include continuation funds, new funds created by GPs for the purpose of acquiring the asset(s) that continue to be managed by the same GP and capitalized by one or several secondary buyers, or equity recapitalizations involving a direct equity or structured equity investment into a portfolio company. These transactions can also include a parallel investment from the GP’s latest fund into that same pool of assets (a “cross-fund trade”).
