About Yena

Yena Lim joined HarbourVest in 2022 as a vice president on the tax structuring team and focuses on transactions and investment structures in APAC, providing commercial advice, setting policies and procedures for management, product development for investors or investment opportunities.

Yena joined the Firm from Mainstream Renewable Power where she was director and head of tax for Asia Pacific. At Mainstream, her responsibilities included structuring cross-border mergers and acquisitions and overseeing all regional tax matters. Prior to Mainstream, Yena was at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte in their international tax advisory practice in New York, Tokyo and Singapore, where she advised asset management industry clients and companies with global presence on their global investments and transactions.

Yena received a LL.M. in Taxation from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, a JD (magna cum laude) from Handong International Law School, and a BA (double major in French Literature and English Literature) from Seoul National University.

Continuation solutions encompass a host of transaction types in which a GP secures interim liquidity and/or additional primary capital for their LPs in a strongly performing asset, or set of assets, that the GP will continue to own and control. Specifically, they include continuation funds, new funds created by GPs for the purpose of acquiring the asset(s) that continue to be managed by the same GP and capitalized by one or several secondary buyers, or equity recapitalizations involving a direct equity or structured equity investment into a portfolio company. These transactions can also include a parallel investment from the GP’s latest fund into that same pool of assets (a “cross-fund trade”).
