What does it mean to be a good corporate citizen?
At HarbourVest, we adopt a four-pronged approach to being a good corporate citizen as evidenced by our commitment to:
- Respecting the interests of our clients, employees, and key stakeholders
- Making responsible investment decisions
- Holding ourselves to the highest ethical standards
- Caring about our communities and the environment
Responsible investing – at every level
From our founding, HarbourVest has sought to align our interests with those of our investors, investment partners, and employees. This has allowed us to proudly build and maintain a culture of ethical behavior, transparency, and social responsibility in both our investments and our operations.
To formalize this commitment, we have adopted a comprehensive Environmental Social Governance (ESG) approach. From initial due diligence to post-investment monitoring, HarbourVest evaluates ESG considerations at all stages of the investment process and works with our investment partners to understand, and potentially even formalize, their own policies. Once an investment is made, we continue to monitor investments for ESG risks to ensure our clients’ interests are well protected.
Principles for Responsible Investment
As a proud signatory to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), HarbourVest is committed to upholding PRI principles when evaluating and monitoring private equity and debt opportunities, regardless of strategy, sector, or location.
A copy of HarbourVest’s 2016 report is disclosed on the PRI website.
